Exercise planning?
As some of y’all might know, I’ve just recently joined a gym. Yay! Kinda needed it, it’ll get me out of the house, and getting in shape was one of my goals for my time off college.
I’ll be taking fitness classes there sometimes, and using the machines there sometimes. Unfortunately, when it comes to working out, I have a tendency to overdo it and end up in a lot of pain. I’m completely clueless in the fitness world and I am more out of shape than I’ve ever been in my entire life.
I think I’ll be okay in the classes because they keep telling me “do what you can, don’t try to do too much, and the instructors will help you.” Okay cool. But when I try to use a machine I always screw myself over.
SO GUYS. ANYONE FITNESS INCLINED PLEASE TELL ME IF WHAT I’M ABOUT TO SAY IS A GOOD IDEA.
What I’m thinking is, I’ll add 5 minutes to the length of the workout every two or three times I use the machines, and increase difficulty on the second and/or third go through. For instance, if I assign arbitrary intensity levels of 1-10:
- Day 1: 30 minute workout, intensity level 1.
- Day 2: 30 minute workout, intensity level 2.
- Day 3: 35 minute workout, intensity level 2.
- Day 4: 35 minute workout, intensity level 3.
- Day 5: 40 minute workout, intensity level 3.
- Day 6: 40 minute workout, intensity level 4.
Basically, each time I use the machines, I either step up the time or the intensity by a small increment.
Also, I won’t be using the machines every time I go. I’m thinking I’ll be going 3 times a week to start off, for two days on the machines and one class, not in any particular order. And I think I’ll add another day per week every two or three weeks depending on scheduling and progress and what have you.
Does what I’m trying to say sound logical, doable, and like a good idea? PLEASE MESSAGE ME WITH YOUR FEEDBACK.
